Formation dancesport is an interesting discipline in itself. Sixteen dancers trying to perform a complex choreography simultaneous. This can offer very interesting photography. Not in the least because the dancers seem to get very energised during their performance delivering a photographer great facial expressions to work with.
But another thing that is very different in comparison to solo dancing, the coach is on the floor as well. In the middle upfront he or she is sitting on a chair accompanied by the team’s mascot. And they are definitely not just sitting and watching there. Most coaches really live the music and performance. Channeling even more energy to the team and using their arms like a true director.
During the first Bundesliga Standard Formation competition of the season in Ludwigsburg I took the opportunity to catch a few of those moments. Enjoy 🙂
