In 2018 I wrote “Goldstadtpokal, quite possibly the most beautiful competition of the year”. And I think that still holds true. After a three year break due to COVID19, this january it finally was time again for this wonderful (dance)gala organised by Schwarz Weiss Club Pforzheim.
WDSF OPEN Latin YOUTH (Red Young Cup)
For the first time in the history of Goldstadtpokal this competition was a WDSF competition. I think it is great for the young dancers to get the opportunity to dance at such beautiful event. The future looks bright for this competition.

Shows
Goldstadtpokal is known for the fact that there always are a lot of interesting shows. In the afternoon the club presents itself with shows of the youngest ones and this year their hiphop group. In the evening there were two shows of a six times YoYo world champion and the show “the olympic spirit” by Aka Modebadze and Gvantsa Tsikhelashvili.

WDSF WORLD OPEN Latin
The centerpiece of the Goldstadtpokal is the World Open Latin competition. This year with no less than 6 couples from the top 10 of the recent world championship. Including the vice-worldchampion and 2 more couples from the final. This resulted in a final at an incredibly high level. And the always wonderful light in Pforzheim brought us wonderful imagery, especially in the solo dances. A feast for the eyes for sure.

And more…
Charity; Goldstadtpokal gala ball also supports the regular hospital visits of a professional clown in the Pforzheim Children’s Hospital. The clown enchants the little patients for a few moments, distracts from the disease with magic and returns the children’s laughter.
As Pforzheim is known for its jewelry industry, attending the Goldstadtpokal gives you the chance to win a great piece of jewelry from one of the sponsors.
And then there is of course the red carpet, can’t have a ball without that 😉
